“You must have seen hath yogi, sitting over the mat of iron pins. Can you imagine sitting like this. You cannot do this, even in imagination; such a difficult task for the body and very painful. Why you can’t do this? It is because your body is more sensitive than the body of that hath yogi. What has been happened to his body? He has made his body insensitive, by practicing sitting long on same position over pins. In the beginning this practice was uncomfortable even for him. But by practicing on regular basis the sense mechanism of his body became lesser and lesser efficient in sensing the pain given by the pins. And, now he can sit easily over the mat. So, now his mechanism to sense touch on that particular area of his body is not working properly; and signals from that part is not reaching in proper manner to the brain.
This was an example to illustrate, how the sense mechanism of your body can be affected, in gross ways.
Take another example: A patient of Cataract cannot see properly, especially at night. Why? It is because his retina is not properly working due to a disease.
We all experienced suffering from nausea sometime or other. During this disease the smelling capacity of your nose reduces, to considerable amount and if at that time a rose is put in front of your nose, you will not be able to smell the fragrance from the flower. Reason being, your sensitivity is reduced due to disease.
These were some examples to illustrate, how the sense mechanism of your body can be affected, in gross ways.
And these are the gross ways in which, “Maya” can enter into human perception. The person affected does not perceive the world as the world really is, but his perception is interfered by the debility of his senses. So, he does not perceive correctly. The lovely fragrance of rose is not for him.
Needles are dangerous to sit over, a very painful affair but in his world that pain doesn’t exist. This is Maya, creating a false world of your own. And, these were the gross ways in which Maya can be created.
But, there are also subtle ways, in which our sensing mechanism can be interfered. These subtle ways are also very important to understand. Important, because ego centered problems of human world are arising out of these subtle ways.
From last five centuries or more than that or the whole history, I don’t know exactly, but, why the color of the skin became so dominating that whites have ruled over whole of the humanity. When there was rule of Britishers in India and other parts of the world, a statement from some Britishers were very much praised by themselves that since, their skin color is white they are created superior to others by God. And God has sent them to rule over. So, for them it was God’s will to rule over the whole world. I am not going to talk about history because my focus is not history but something else. But, everybody knows the impact of this single thought over whole human history and how humans suffered because of this single thought. Are whites really superior over blacks or this is just a rubbish thought. Is God really made any difference between whites and blacks? He is supplying same food, water and sun to both of them. But, this human perception of superiority made human suffers so much. Our thoughts also dominate over our perception.
This is also, Maya: an unreal world created, that whites are superior over blacks.
This was an illustration of the subtle ways, in which, Maya is created.”
